The Broken Assembly
Trapped in that Great Big Love Machine. With it’s rusty parts and broken assemblies.
Still, somehow, almost magically, grinding to work everyday.
Making us miserable or happy. Making us lacking or wealthy. Making us, in every good or bad meaning of the word, human.
WHAT WE ARE NOT! Well, we are not a band!
We don’t like to rehearse, it’s boring.
We don’t like band meetings, where everyone must get their say, whether they have something to say or not.
We don’t require every song to have drums on them, just because there is a drummer in the band.
Instead, let the perspective be that of the song. What is needed to make it great. Not what the musicians playing it need.
WHAT WE ARE! We are two independent songwriters who decided help each other. Both of us write songs of love, both of us can talk to ghosts at night. But only one of us can sing, only one can dance, only one has a boring interest in microphones and only one knows the meaning of the word akkzalam…
All in all, a perfect match to help each other to get all that wonderful music get from inside that machine all the way to you.
Helena Ahlbäck

Helena Ahlbäck
Helena played church organ works by JS Bach on the piano as she grew up in Umea, the university town in northern Sweden. She was however also a huge AC/DC fan. And took ballet classes. She moved to Stockholm to develop her dancing, and made it into the choreographic program at the National College of Dance at 19. She has been working as a contemporary choreographer and dancer and also with many far less glamourous tasks such as cleaning offices, with photography and video (in front of the camera), and spent three years at Stockholm University studying History of Religions and Archaeology. Her passion for music took over her life during the nineties, resulting in her attempting to conquer the guitar with varying degrees of success. Three of her songs have been placed in a Swedish commercial campaign for the milk producing company Arla, in cooperation with the photographer Fabio Galli.
